Over the course of 1 month, Kathleen will personally guide you through transformative techniques that build your confidence in having the talks & actually have proven to delay a teen's initiation of sex.

Let's focus on YOU & your kid and take you from feeling anxious & unsure to beyond confident! You will be itching to initiate a talk by the end of the month!

This is open to parents of kids between the ages 4-15.

You will meet with Kathleen online, 5 times/30 minutes each, in 30 days.

What is Kathleen Hema's Approach to the Sex Talks ?

Kathleen has a Master in Public Health and has worked in teen pregnancy & HIV/AIDS prevention as well as sex education and she takes a public health approach to the sex talks. Her advice is based on the evidence-informed approach from the World Health Organization's International Technical Guidance for Sexuality Education. She uses public health theories on behavior change and developing one's self-efficacy to guide her videos, course, and parenting program. She does all the boring stuff so you can just start having the sex talks without having to do the research.

Kathleen provides parents with the medically-accurate and factual information for each sex talk. She explains how to have each talk in an age-appropriate way & is developmentally digestible for the child. Lastly, she gives parents the opportunity to explain why they believe what they believe. Basically, parents get to share their personal or family values and beliefs around the topic.

This is the underlying methodology to the Modern Day Sex Talks. This ensures your child receives factual information while providing the space so you can share your values (religious, cultural, or personal) during each sex talk. Because every parent has values! All parents want to share their values with their kids. Kathleen acknowledges that and creates the space for parents to share their values in each sex talk.

What is the Parenting Program?

After you complete the 1.5 hour course, you will have the skills to have the foundational sex talks with your child.

You will totally have the confidence to grab those teachable moment opportunities about sex and sexuality because you know how it fits into your plan for the talks over the next 3-5 years.

The Program is a monthly LIVESTREAM where you continue to build your skills and knowledge about topics and questions that arise! What topics each month are initiated by parents in the program and hosted by me!

I deliver mini-educational lectures on topics so that you can take the skills that you've learned during the course and apply it to the topic of the month.

What is "Topics from a Jar?"

Do you have a 12, 13, 14, or 15 year old?
Have you tried initiating a sex talk with them and they just ignore you or worse, walk away?
"Topics from a Jar" is designed for parents who want to have the sex talks with their teen but haven't been successful at actually getting their teen to participate.

"Topics from a Jar" has 26 questions and answers that take on average 5-7 minutes (for each topic) to discuss with your teen. Kathleen knows how hard it can be to get your teen to participate in the sex talks. She has eliminated your worries by providing YOU with the script that has been successfully used by parents to initiate the first topic! It's the words you can say to your teen to prove that this activity is going to be worth their time.

How many times have you heard, "the talk is outdated, you need to have lots of small, ongoing talks with your teen" but then they never tell you how to do that! "Topics from a Jar" is the answer. There are 26 Questions that you use to prompt a conversation with your teen. The answers are included so you don't have to go searching for what to add to the conversation. You can easily make sure your teen has the medically-accurate and factual information.

These 26 topics aren't designed to be asked and answered all at once! It's up to you to make it a part of a routine every other week. Do you have 5 minutes to have an ice-cream with your teen? Can you do that 26 times over the next 12 months? Then grab an ice-cream and pick a Topic from the Jar.

It takes 15 minutes from printing out the topics and answers to getting them into the jar. The hardest part will be introducing the activity to your teen!

Kathleen recommends to make it a part of something that they enjoy doing too! If ice-cream isn't their thing, then suggest getting a bubble tea or a hot chocolate or an iced-coffee. Just find something, ANYTHING that you would be willing to do 26 times with your teen over the next year!
